After returning to winning ways on Wednesday against Aston Villa, Chelsea suffered another league defeat on Saturday. This time it was to the hands of Everton, and it now leaves the Blues with three losses from their last four Premier League games.

Chelsea again showed defensive frailties throughout the 3-1 defeat, and never really looked like winning the game. They fell behind within just five minutes when Richarlison headed past Kepa before Calvert-Lewin added a second just after half-time.

Mateo Kovacic pulled one back with a strike from long-range before Calvert-Lewin grabbed his second to wrap the game up and send the Blues back to London with nothing.

Many Chelsea fans were not happy with the performance, and some were particularly unimpressed by the performance of club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

However, there was a bright spark for the Blues in an otherwise disappointing day. The recent form of Mateo Kovacic has been a continued source of hope for Chelsea. It was no different in Saturday’s defeat.

The 25-year-old scored his second goal in his last four games for the club against the Toffees and is making a real impression on Blues fans.

He does not often grab the headlines, but Kovacic is becoming more and more important to Chelsea as the weeks go by. His ability to escape from tight spaces, and quickly turn defense into attack is a rare quality and one that adds great value to the side.

Here is some fans reaction to Kovacic’s performance on Saturday.
