Chelsea fans not happy with Michy Batshuayi's performance against Nottingham Forest

Michy Batshuayi was given a start against Nottingham Forest in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup third round win. Some fans were not impressed by the 26-year-old’s performance.

The Blues comfortably won the game but could done so by more in Batshuayi had his shooting boots on. Deliveries from both sides were impeccable but the Belgian could not put any chances away.

Goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley earnt Chelsea a spot in the fourth round of the competition. Manager Frank Lampard had a long and successful relationship with the FA Cup and will no doubt be thrilled to be in the hat for the next round.

It was only Batshuayi’s third start in all competitions this season, and it showed. He looked rusty and despite some good movement, lacked a cutting edge in front of the goal and was just not clinical enough.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing the striker, and Lampard is reportedly keen to get him off the books. Despite being at the club since 2016, Batshuayi has scored just 24 goals. He has never established himself as a starter and January could be the time for him to move on.

There is a chance that Sunday’s game will be the last fans see of Batshuayi in a Chelsea shirt. His performance is unlikely to earn him another start any time soon.
