Pundit Jason Cundy has claimed he was really not impressed by the performance of Chelsea youngster Diego Moreira last night.

During his work for the official club coverage, he was particularly critical of his decision making in what was his first Chelsea appearance at a competitive level.

Last night saw Mauricio Pochettino handed the luxury of being able to rest a number of his key first team players for the visit of AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup.

The manager has only made two changes to his line-ups in the Premier League, with them both being enforced due to injuries.

With players like Raheem Sterling starring so far this campaign, last night proved a good opportunity for some of the younger first team stars to prove what they can do.

One of those was Moreira, however he struggled big time against lower league opposition.

His first team debut only lasted 45 minutes before he was substituted by Pochettino. The manager brought on the dangerous Nicolas Jackson, whose presence made a big impact on how the team played.

Moreira came in to criticism from commentator last night Cundy, who was really not impressed with what he had seen from the young forward.

He said: “His decision making has been dreadful”

Chelsea turned around an early deficit to unconvincingly book their place in the next round of the competition. Goals from Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez sealed a 2-1 victory.

It remains to be seen if Pochettino feels confident enough in players like Moreira to give him another chance in the next round against Brighton.

With him already claiming this competition is one he wants to win, it is likely he will look to a stronger XI to get the job done next month at Stamford Bridge.
