Graham Potter will be hoping that the international break has not undone Chelsea’s good work in recent games.

The Blues won three games in a row, before being stunned by a late goal to hold them to a draw against Everton in their last outing.

While changes have still been made most weeks, it feels like the manager is beginning to settle on a preferred team and system.

However, injuries will see more rotation required in the XI that will take on Aston Villa.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s return to international duty won’t have filled him with too much confidence, although he will return for Chelsea.

With Wesley Fofana injured, Trevoh Chalobah will be handed a rare chance to start against Villa.

Kalidou Koulibaly will continue in the centre of a back three, with Thiago Silva still some weeks away from a return.

Alongside him, Marc Cucurella will play in what looks to be his most comfortable position.

Another injury concern for Reece James will see him handed more recovery time, and the reliable Ruben Loftus-Cheek called upon.

Despite two appearances all the way in Argentina, Enzo Fernandez will continue his ever-presence since joining the club.

He will be partnered by Mateo Kovacic, who will no doubt be buoyed by his goalscoring exploits on international duty.

Ben Chilwell will start on the left, and look to continue to bring his attacking impotence to the side.

Raheem Sterling will be recalled by Graham Potter after his recent injury has ruled the £50m man out since the Borussia Dortmund match.

He will be joined by Joao Felix in attack, and it feels as if his impact will be crucial to getting a win.

Up front, Kai Havertz will look to continue a run of three goals in as many games for the club.
