Edouard Mendy is apparently extremely annoyed by the situation he finds himself in at Chelsea.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Simon Phillips proclaimed that the goalkeeper is completely fed up with the scenario unfolding at Stamford Bridge.

After such a strong start to life in South West London, Mendy’s career as a Blue has taken a turn for the worse.

He is no longer the number one at Chelsea, a position awarded to Kepa Arrizabalaga by Graham Potter.

The Senegal has suffered from a rare bout of injury absences this season, allowing his fellow gloved guardian to take the reigns between the posts.

But even when Mendy has been available this term, he’s hardly justified his stance as the primary ‘keeper.

There is now major doubts whether the 30-year-old will remain at Cobham over the summer.

Not only because Todd Boehly is reportedly considering signing a new goalie, but also due to the fact contract talks have not seemingly commenced between the club and player.

“On Mendy, I’m told he hasn’t rejected a new contract offer at the moment because there hasn’t actually been a formal offer made from Chelsea. All it was, was back in the summer, Chelsea and Mendy spoke about potentially extending his contract,” explained Chelsea insider Phillips.

“This was obviously before Potter came in, and then he decided that Kepa was his number one. Since then, Mendy has grown unhappy, he doesn’t want to be a backup, he wants to be the number one, and the doubts have come in.”

There are two obvious ways to resolve this issue.

Either Chelsea offer Mendy a fresh deal and reinstate him as the number one, or they let him go and find a replacement.

This might sound straight forward, but as we know, nothing is ever easy in football.
