It’s been reported that Chelsea’s new head coach, Graham Potter, massively rates Mason Mount.

Mount, 23, has been a key player at Stamford Bridge in recent years, winning Chelsea’s player of the season the last two times.

However, the attacking midfielder will be starting fresh again and look to impress a new face in the Blues managerial dugout.

Journalist Dean Jones claims that he’s already got an admirer in Potter.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said on Mount: “Graham Potter, I’m told, is a big admirer of his. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Mason Mount was set to get a new contract.”

Graham Potter rates Mason Mount

Mount’s individual form hasn’t quite been at its usual level so far this season, registering zero goals and zero assists in seven appearances. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see if he starts on Wednesday night.

Potter has had just a few days to settle into the role as Chelsea boss and will take charge for the first time tonight in a Champions League group stage match at home to Red Bull Salzburg.

Mount has been a go-to figure under previous managers Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard, so it’s no surprise if he leaves a good impression on Potter.

Described as “phenomenal” in the past by Antonio Rudiger, Mount could really suit the style that Potter will try implement at Chelsea.

His energy, tactical intelligence and quality should give him a great chance to become key under the new coach.

It’s been reported Chelsea are ready to offer Mount a new improved deal, which follows teammate Reece James recently signing a contract extension at the club.

The aforementioned duo have definitely been two of the club’s outstanding performers in recent seasons.

It’s exciting to know they’ll both have to raise their games again to impress the new coach.
