Frank Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino have reportedly held conversations together about the Chelsea squad.

According to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips, Frank Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino have been in recent discussions about the Blues group.

Writing on his Substack, Phillips shared: “I’m told from from a source close to him, that Frank Lampard has now been asked to share his thoughts on the current squad with Mauricio Pochettino.”

Lampard is in charge from now until the end of the season as Chelsea’s interim boss, with just four Premier League games left to play. Incidentally, the Blues face Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The talk in the media is that Pochettino will be the man to replace him in the manager’s dugout. He’s expected to step in as the next permanent Chelsea manager for next season.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are finally set to appoint their next head coach by the end of the week.

In addition, The Mirror says that Pochettino will soon be appointed by Chelsea and he’s got big plans for N’Golo Kante.

Lampard knows a big chunk of the Chelsea squad very well, so he’s the perfect man for Pochettino to speak with.

It’s a huge job at Stamford Bridge for the next manager, who will walk into a dressing room that is oversized and has gone through a very poor 2022/23 campaign.

However, there’s definitely still plenty of jewels in the group for someone like Pochettino to build around.

Lampard will have seen in the past month which Chelsea players really want to be at the club still, which is why his input should be a big help to Pochettino.
