Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly will be back in the team against Southampton in tomorrow’s game.

Chelsea travel to St Mary’s on Tuesday night to face Southampton in the Premier League.

The Blues go into the contest off the back of a 2-1 win against Leicester City, which means they’re sixth in the league table at this early stage of the season.

Koulibaly back against Southampton

Chelsea boss Tuchel shared in his latest press conference that Koulibaly will return from his suspension and come back into the line-up.

The £33million centre-back missed the Leicester result after being sent off against Leeds United, but clearly his big belief from his manager.

“He’s a fantastic player and has a fantastic personality. I am so happy with what I see, not only that we convinced him to come to the club but how he behaves and trains. I see a lot of quality and everything that is needed to be a leading figure at Chelsea. He will be on the pitch at Southampton, he is a massive player for us, and there’s no doubt about it,” Tuchel said about Koulibaly.

Described as a “top signing” by Micah Richards, Koulibaly has had a turbulent start to his Chelsea career.

Hopefully, the 31-year-old centre-back can bounce back from his red card and start to build some real momentum in the starting line-up.

It sounds like he’ll slot back into the starting line-up, which perhaps could mean a return to a back three.

He’s got everything in his game to be the long-term solution as the left-sided centre-back, so his return is a real boost.
