Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is now a top contender to become the next permanent Chelsea manager.

According to the Daily Mail, fellow candidate Luis Enrique is now not seen as one of the favourites for the job.

Pochettino has plenty of experience managing in the Premier League, something a number of the top targets for the role can not offer.

The perceived favourite from the early stages of the hunt is Julian Nagelsmann, fresh off his recent dismissal from his role at Bayern Munich.

He was recently replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who seems to be doing his best to undo the good work put in by his predecessor up to now.

Last night saw the former Blue knocked out of the Champions League, being sent off from the sidelines in the process.

Pochettino now top contender

With Tuchel a thing of the past, eyes are looking towards who will be selected to try and bring the good times back to Stamford Bridge.

Enrique was seen at a point as one of the top contenders for the job, especially after he flew to England for talks with the owners.

However, reports now claim that interest in hiring him has cooled. Despite being the Spain manager, it has been quite a while since he managed at club level.

This has opened the door for Pochettino to make a charge to become the next man in the hotseat in West London, after being close to getting the job earlier this season.

The former Tottenham and PSG boss was one of the leading candidates to replace Tuchel. However, he lost out to Graham Potter, who went on to endure a torrid spell in charge this season.
