Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali visited Stamford Bridge dressing room following Tuesday’s defeat to Real Madrid but this time, there were reportedly no speeches.

Despite the controversy surrounding their presence in the dressing room after Saturday’s match against Brighton, it did not stop Boehly and Eghbali from making another visit after the team’s Champions League exit.

Previously, Kepa Arrizabalaga revealed that this actually happened quite regularly but he and caretaker manager Frank Lampard insisted that they were comfortable with it.

According to The Telegraph, however, Boehly and Eghbali did not make any speeches and only “greeted the individuals and largely kept their thoughts to themselves”.

This is very different from their previous visit in which they reportedly expressed that they found the team’s current situation as “embarrassing”.

Whether the media headlines and attention played a part in their relatively silent approach this time, but any speech would have been too late, anyway.

Chelsea’s season is effectively over after the 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid on aggregate in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Sitting 11th in the Premier League table means any European spot is already an unrealistic target while being 12 points above 18th-placed Nottingham Forest makes them very safe from a relegation battle.

The remainder of the season is now all about preparing for the next season which points to the club’s hunt for a new manager.

Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are in charge of assessing the options, but Boehly and Eghbali, as well as the rest of the ownership group, will eventually make the final decision.

According to recent reports, Julian Nagelsmann is the sole leading candidate with Luis Enrique dropping out of the list of favourites after recent not-so-positive talks.
