Reports have claimed that Chelsea are admirers of Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.
According to The Guardian, while it’s unlikely he is made their next permanent man in charge, he has certainly been considered by the board for the role.
Alonso has not been in coaching long. He only retired from playing six years ago, before getting his first manager’s job less than a year ago.

He has extremely impressed however, sometimes calling upon Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi.
It looks as if there will not be another permanent coach in charge until after this season ends. It’s fair to say the position doesn’t look particularly tempting at this stage.
Graham Potter departed with the Blues in 11th, way outside the European places and seemingly having nothing to play for domestically for the rest of the season.
There is the Champions League that the club remain in, holding their only chance at any real achievement this season.
In an attempt to keep supporter morale as high as possible, Chelsea are set to bring back Frank Lampard on a temporary basis.
Alonso considered for Chelsea job
Bruno Saltor looked extremely uncomfortable in charge of the club, and is surely hoping to depart after his good friend from Brighton was given the boot.
Bringing in the club legend will give the owners time to make a thorough decision on who should become the next permanent man in charge.
Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have emerged as the favourites for the role. The Spaniard even travelled to London yesterday for talks with the club.

This is despite the German emerging as the reported favourite candidate amongst the higher-ups at the club since his sacking at Bayern Munich.
Enrique’s experience at the top of the game for both club and country could give him an advantage over his counterpart.
The former Spain boss has reportedly impressed with his thorough preparation for the interview, impressing with the vision he set out for the current Chelsea squad.
