Reports have claimed that some Chelsea players couldn’t believe that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been frozen out in recent months.
According to The Athletic, there were some perplexed as to why a recognised goalscorer had been exiled by Graham Potter despite the lack of goals at the club.
Aubameyang was brought in during Thomas Tuchel’s time in charge of the club, however the German was only in charge of one game with him in the squad before being sacked.
With how suited the signing was for a specific manager, it made it tough to see the rest of the season being a success for the former Arsenal man.
This is how it’s played out. Potter has not started the £12 million forward in the league since early January.
The decision has reportedly not gone down well with the rest of the squad, with it not going unnoticed the obvious issues the Blues have had in front of goal.
Players confused at Aubameyang treatment
It’s fair to say Aubameyang has not covered himself in glory off the pitch this season, partly living up to his recent reputation of being a negative force in the dressing room.
He was recently seen celebrating a win for his former club Barcelona in the Catalan club’s dressing room as they beat Real Madrid.
This occurred just a day after the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by Everton, with the fanbase frustrated enough already.
Reports have claimed that the Gabon international is already set to depart at the end of the season, with Xavi interested in bringing him back to his former side.
Whoever comes in to replace Potter as manager is still likely to probably not utilise Aubameyang, especially with the incoming arrival of Christopher Nkunku at the end of the season.
