Chelsea reportedly believe that Mauricio Pochettino has a great plan for the young players at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues managerial search gathered some serious pace yesterday!

Sky Sports claims that Mauricio Pochettino, along with Vincent Kompany and an unnamed candidate, are the three managers Chelsea have on their shortlist to become the next permanent manager.

This comes after journalist Fabrizio Romano told Twitter that Julian Nagelsmann decided to withdraw himself from the race to take charge at Chelsea.

According to Miguel Delaney’s newsletter for The Independent, Pochettino may have leapt to the top of Chelsea’s shortlist.

It is understood that Blues co-owner Todd Boehly was a big fan of Pochettino after speaking with him this week.

In particular, Pohcettino’s plan to help develop the young players at the Bridge is seen as a huge positive.

Danny Murphy recently said he thinks Pochettino would be a great appointment for Chelsea.

The 51-year-old manager, who’s been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2022, possesses great experience in England from his time at Tottenham and Southampton.

He was described as “excellent” by Pep Guardiola a couple of years ago (Guardian), which is a huge compliment to have from one of the world’s elite coaches.

If you look at the current squad, bringing in a manager that has a track record of improving and helping youngsters should be high up on the agenda.

A big focus in the transfer window under these owners has been the signing of the world’s best emerging talents.

We would love to see what Pochettino could do to help nurture the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Omari Hutchison and Malo Gusto.
