Some within Chelsea’s walls reportedly understand that Jorginho will wave farewell to the club at the end of the campaign.

According to The Athletic’s sources connected to the older members of Graham Potter’s squad, they are ‘under the impression’ this is the Italian’s final season as a Blue.

Jorginho is edging closer towards concluding his career at Stamford Bridge due to an expiring contract that runs out in the summer.

There hasn’t yet been any concrete evidence that the midfielder will renew his deal.

Most of the signs are pointing towards his exit from Cobham after over half a decade of service.

The 31-year-old followed Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to South West London in 2018.

At the time, he became one of Chelsea’s most expensive ever signings thanks to the £50m forked out by Roman Abramovich.

Is this the end of Jorginho at Chelsea?

Whilst other arrivals with huge price tags have suffered an ultimately left the Premier League side, Jorginho has remained pretty much an ever present.

He might not always be a fan favourite, but he’s outlived the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Alvaro Morata to name a few.

His efforts towards winning the Champions League and Europa League should not be forgotten or understated.

However, it does feel like the 2020 European Championship holder is on the final stretch of his Chelsea career.

Not only because of his age, but the fact his employers are apparently in the market for new faces in the midfield.

If Todd Boehly manages to buy Enzo Fernandez or Jude Bellingham, or both, Jorginho might be surplus to requirements.

At Chelsea anyway, but not in another team who could still benefit from his last quality.

The Athletic claim he wants to return to Serie A, and it is said he wouldn’t be averse to re-joining Napoli after six-years of separation.

Do whatever makes you happy, Jorgi, you deserve it.
