Reports have claimed that new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino believes he has the ability to improve goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

According to the Evening Standard, the Argentine is under the impression he and his goalkeeping coach can improve him to the level where he remains as the number one at Stamford Bridge.

It was definitely a positive season for Kepa, who before Graham Potter took over looked like he was surplus to requirements in West London.

However, he took Edouard Mendy’s place as a starter for the majority of the last campaign, with it known that at least one would be on the move this summer.

It appears as if that is going to be the Senegal international, with him reportedly coming to an agreement on personal terms over a move to Saudi Arabia.

There were still reports that the 28-year-old could also leave the club, although that would require a big name goalkeeper coming in.

It was reported late last week that there were no efforts currently to follow up on interest in Champions League finalist Andre Onana.

Now, it appears as if Pochettino is prepared to work with Kepa, instead prioritising transfer activity in other areas of the pitch.

It is uncertain how this will go down with supporters though. The end of the season did not suggest many would be confident about their prospects with him between the sticks again.

One option fans may have been keen to bring in would have been David Raya, who has plenty of experience now featuring in the Premier League.

He is not going to sign a new contract with Brentford, however it appears he now has his heart set on a move to Tottenham to replace Hugo Lloris.
