Mauricio Pochettino is really impressed by two parts of Mason Mount’s game in particular, according to reports.

All the speculation in the media points towards Mauricio Pochettino, 51, taking charge as the new Chelsea manager at Stamford Bridge next season. In fact, The Mirror claims Chelsea could even appoint Pochettino as the head coach by the end of the week.

We are very intrigued to see which Blues stars emerge as key figures under the Argentine coach.

The Daily Mail has now reported that Pochettino believes Mason Mount could really suit the style he wants to bring to Chelsea.

It is understood that he massively rates the 24-year-old’s ability on the ball and his work-ethic.

We agree with Pochettino that Mount possesses huge quality both on and off the ball.

First of all, there’s never been any doubting his incredible work-ethic since he first broke into the Chelsea first-team squad a few years ago. It’s no real surprise that every manager he’s worked with has relied on him on the pitch, and we suspect his work out of possession is like gold dust to them.

As for his ability on the ball, we think he’s underrated. For example, Mount has mastered the half turn and it’s become a bit of a signature skill for him.

The England international may have endured an off-season this year, but he’s shown in the past he can be one of Europe’s top attacking midfielders.

The only dark cloud hanging over Mount right now is the fact his contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

In our view, Chelsea need to do what they can to keep the academy graduate for the foreseeable future!

Journalist Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport earlier this month that Chelsea could look to find a short-term extension to Mount’s deal, which would allow them more time to agree a long-term package.
