Reports have claimed that there is a possibility for Jorginho to return to Chelsea as a coach when he retires from playing.

According to The Athletic, the relationship between club and player came to an end on good terms after a successful spell together.

Despite never pleasing everyone, the Italy international’s purpose at Stamford Bridge was clear to see, and he helped the club to European glory in 2021.

The 31-year-old was still an important member of Graham Potter’s first team squad this season, although it was becoming clear that the future did not involve him being there.

His contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and the player was showing little desire to sign an extension.

So, when Arsenal were forced to look elsewhere after missing out on midfield target Moises Caicedo, they turned their attentions to Jorginho.

Jorginho could return to Chelsea as a coach

A £12m offer was more than enough for the club to accept, with them preparing to lose him for free at the end of the campaign.

However, The Athletic have claimed this might not be the last the Blues see of the midfielder, with there being a chance that he could return as a member of the coaching staff.

On the pitch, the club will be pretty confident in their Jorginho replacement.

Enzo Fernandez joined the club on deadline day after fierce negotiations in the final hours of what proved to be a massive January transfer window.

With the injury problems that the Blues are currently suffering in that position, there is a likelihood that he will start in the Premier League match against Fulham on Friday night.

They will be looking for revenge on their West London rivals after losing 2-1 last month in a game marred by the debut red card for Joao Felix.
