Mauricio Pochettino suggests that Chelsea’s young trio of Cesare Casadei, Andrey Santos, and Carney Chukwuemeka have all impressed him so far during pre-season.
The Blues have been working at the club’s training ground at Cobham this month, but they jetted out to the United States earlier this week.
Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies started this morning with a 5-0 victory against Wrexham. It’s worth noting that they lined up in the first half with a midfield system that was centred around Cesare Casadei, Andrey Santos, and Carney Chukwuemeka.

We really liked the performance of the aforementioned trio in a pre-season fixture, but Pochettino is still fairly reserved when it comes to showering individuals with too much praise.
However, the Argentine manager was upbeat after the Wrexham game when asked about Santos and Casadei.
“The profile is very good, the two names and Carney (Chukwuemeka). They have the profile, only they need time,,” Pochettino said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“They are young and we cannot forget we are in Chelsea, the pressure is always to win. They need to have the place, to have time to evolve. But yes, the profile is good.”

Casadei, who’s only 20, put in a monstrous display as a Rolls-Royce midfielder against Wrexham. In fact, Jason Cundy raved about Casadei’s display in the friendly match, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Santos and Chukwuemeka, who are both 19, left good impressions against Wrexham as well.
There’s no doubt Pochettino’s squad desperately needs the addition of an experienced and top-quality midfielder, but there’s so much young talent owned by the group right now. If they’re deemed good enough by Pochettino, we wouldn’t mind some staying around the first-team group in the new season.
