Chelsea’s season could look very different right now if they hadn’t been hit as hard by the injury problems that they have been up to now.
A huge number of key players in defence, midfield and attack have all been forced to spend time on the sidelines after suffering their own issues starting all the way back in pre-season.
Some of the biggest players to have missed plenty of action are Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana. The latter hasn’t even been seen yet at all this season.

However, one player whose loss has gone under the radar a bit is Carney Chukwuemeka. Until last weekend, he hadn’t played a minute since the second game of the season in August.
As soon as he scored his first goal for the club in stunning style, he was forced off with what looked like a painful blow to the knee.
He had been a starter for Mauricio Pochettino in both of the Premier League fixtures that the Blues started the season with, as they continued to do business late in the summer transfer window.
Chukwuemeka could turn things round for Chelsea
While they have added players such as Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo since then who will make getting a place in the side a lot more difficult, the return of the 20-year-old youngster will be a huge boost to the Blues in terms of squad depth.
Recently Chelsea have sometimes not even been able to name their full contingent on the bench, with nearly all of these being made up of players straight from the academy.
Chukwuemeka has been seen back in training in recent weeks and is in line to make his return to the team. His presence can absolutely make an impact on Chelsea in the coming weeks, and begin to turn things around again at Stamford Bridge.
