The Chelsea squad seem to be playing for their places at Stamford Bridge for not only the rest of this season, but for future campaigns too.

While they may be extremely low on fit and healthy first team players right now, the summer transfer window provides an opportunity for the club to strengthen in positions they see fit.

It is likely the next few weeks are going to provide a final chance for a number of players to prove they actually should have a future at Stamford Bridge.

The likes of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah boast serious sale potential due to the fact they are homegrown stars, although there will be plenty who have seen their performance levels recently wondering why exactly they are thinking that way.

One position the club have been linked with strengthening at the end of the season is goalkeeper, despite signing two new ones before the campaign got underway.

They brought in both Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez, with the former being the one who has played the majority of the minutes in 2024.

It looked as if Sanchez was the number one for Mauricio Pochettino early in the season, although that dynamic has now shifted.

While the Serbian had actually made a good start to life in West London, it quickly tailed off to see him pick up the blame for a number of goals going against them.

With Kepa Arrizabalaga and Gabriel Slonina to return from their loan spells, a decision is going to be on the table for Pochettino to make between the sticks.

Starting from tomorrow at Stamford Bridge, Petrovic has the opportunity to prove that he should be taken seriously as the number one going forwards with the project, and they should be prioritising signing players in other positions instead of his own.
