£65m Premier League player must be wishing Chelsea signed him instead this summer

Chelsea may not be the elite club they once were, with the Blues not in the Champions League for a second season running.

However, Chelsea still have their appeal, especially if you are a striker. Right now, Enzo Maresca has so many talented wide players.

The likes of Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho are capable of providing good service, with the latter setting up Christopher Nkunku last weekend.

For that reason alone, Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke would probably love to play in this Chelsea team.

Dominic Solanke was linked to Chelsea

Before his £65m move from Bournemouth to Tottenham last month, there was talk that Chelsea were interested in re-signing their former striker.

At one point during the summer, it was claimed that Chelsea thought about entering negotiations with Bournemouth to sign Solanke.

In the end, though, the Blues did not bring in an experienced centre-forward, while Solanke went on to join Spurs.

There, the 27-year-old has struggled so far, being substituted in their Carabao Cup third-round tie against Coventry City on Wednesday night.

Dominic Solanke’s struggles at Tottenham

In the three games he has played for Tottenham since joining Ange Postecoglou’s side in the summer, Solanke is yet to score a goal or provide an assist.

“He looks like he’s… the shirt’s too big for him at the moment,” Gabriel Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT after his performance against Coventry.

Solanke is not a bad player, though, and playing alongside someone like Palmer, for example, he would probably be thriving right now.

Last season, the England international scored 19 goals in 38 Premier League appearances.

Of course, it is still early days and Tottenham have not been performing as a whole, with the team currently sitting 13th in the table. As the campaign goes on, you would expect Solanke to get much better.

However, you cannot help but feel that the former Bournemouth man would already have a goal or two if he had been at Chelsea when you look at all of the creative players at Stamford Bridge.
