Chelsea have done plenty of business with Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta in the past, and they will now be hoping to do some more this summer.
Edu left Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals last year, leaving them in need of a new sporting director.
Berta is the man Arsenal have turned to, with the 53-year-old joining the Gunners after leaving Atletico Madrid.
Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are Chelsea’s current sporting directors, and the two will be keen to offload one of the Blues’ unwanted players at Arsenal for good this summer. Chelsea could sell up to £225m worth of talent when the transfer window reopens.

Andrea Berta signed Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata and Conor Gallagher at Atletico Madrid
Berta already has experience doing business with Chelsea, signing multiple players from them during his time as sporting director at Atletico.
The Italian was responsible for the arrivals of Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata and most recently Conor Gallagher.
They were big signings for Atletico as well, with the Spanish club paying a lot of money for each individual.
After his struggles in England, Chelsea did very well to get almost £60m for Morata. The Blues now need Berta to come forward and make a bid for another Chelsea flop.
Morata is one of Chelsea’s most expensive signings ever, so there were a lot expectations when he joined the club from Real Madrid in 2017 to replace Costa.

Chelsea will be desperate for Andrea Berta to sign Raheem Sterling permanently
It seems unlikely after a disappointing loan spell at the Emirates, but Chelsea will be keen for Arsenal to purchase Sterling this summer.
Sterling is the highest-paid Chelsea player but has underwhelmed at Stamford Bridge, hence why he was allowed to join Arsenal on a temporary basis last August.
In 81 appearances for the Blues, the winger has scored just 19 goals, which is not good enough for someone believed to be earning more than £300,000 a week.
| Raheem Sterling’s Chelsea career | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2023/24 | 43 | 10 | 8 |
| 2022/23 | 38 | 9 | 4 |
| Total | 81 | 19 | 12 |
Behdad Eghbali helped facilitate Sterling’s move to Arsenal, and the Chelsea co-owner, alongside the club’s co-sporting directors, need to do the same trick again this summer.
