There were several exits at Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window as Chelsea allowed some of their fringe players to go.
The likes of Joao Felix, Axel Disasi and Ben Chilwell all left Chelsea on loan in search of more game time.
Some supporters will feel that Chelsea allowing Felix to join AC Milan was a mistake. The Portuguese forward is a talented footballer with a lot of technical ability.
You could also argue that not sending one of their youngsters to Frank Lampard‘s Coventry City was also an error.

Frank Lampard wanted Tyrique George at Coventry City
As he has done in the past, Lampard turned to Chelsea as he tried to strengthen his Coventry side during the January transfer window.
It was reported that Lampard asked about Tyrique George, as well as Marc Guiu, but Chelsea said no.
George is a wide man with a lot of potential, and playing regularly at Coventry could have helped him with his development.
“Tyrique’s talent is through the roof, man. He’s got everything to be a fantastic wing player,” Noni Madueke told Sky Sports back in September when discussing his teammate. “He can score with both feet, he’s quick, skilful, can go both ways, he’s a great player. He’s one to look out for.”
It appears, though, that the Blues felt that it would be better for George to remain with Enzo Maresca‘s group for the rest of the season.

Tyrique George could have gone down a similar path to Mason Mount
While Chelsea denied Lampard on this occasion, in the past the club have allowed some of their players to link up with him.
For example, Mason Mount joined Derby County on a season-long loan back in 2018 when Lampard was still managing the Championship outfit.
There, Mount got plenty of game time and started to develop into a very effective attacking midfielder.
In total, the 26-year-old made 38 appearances in the Championship, scoring nine goals and providing four assists. It was the equivalent of a whole Premier League campaign and no doubt set him on the path to becoming a Chelsea and England regular.
| Mason Mount’s 2018/19 Championship stats | Total |
| Matches | 38 |
| Minutes | 3,321 |
| Goals | 9 |
| Assists | 4 |
With Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended, Maresca may end up needing George. But if not, then not sending him to Coventry will feel like a missed opportunity.
