Chelsea are back where they belong in the Champions League after pulling off a sensational 1-0 win away from home against Nottingham Forest.

The Blues will already be looking ahead to next season and playing amongst the big boys. One of Europe’s giants will be visiting Stamford Bridge during the group stages of the competition.

Even though Enzo Maresca wants his players to focus on the Conference League final, there will be plenty going on behind the scenes in preparation for next season.

This will largely be based around the transfer window, with Todd Boehly and co now knowing they can sell top level European football to any of their transfer targets.

Chelsea will fancy their chances at signing Morgan Rogers after Champions League qualification

This includes some of their more ambitious targets that have been linked with a move to West London, with one of those being Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers.

Maresca reportedly already has a plan to use Rogers already should he make the move, and one player who would be delighted with the deal is Cole Palmer.

The pair have a great relationship off the field, which would certainly transfer onto the pitch if they were to link up.

Chelsea returning to the Champions League came at the expense of Aston Villa, meaning Rogers is going to have to wait at least another year if he wants to play amongst the best in Europe again.

This could be their chance to sell the project to the attacker, and convince him that his future should be in West London rather than at Villa Park.

Rogers more than ready for Champions League football

After playing a season in the competition already, it has become clear that Rogers is more than good enough to compete in the Champions League.

The youngster was praised for his performance against Celtic this season, with Stiliyan Petrov describing him as ‘outstanding’ to TNT Sports.

Chelsea can make a real statement this summer in the transfer market and in the process extend the gap between themselves and those who missed out on Champions League football this season.

Following Axel Disasi’s loan move, relationships are good between the two clubs, and the Blues will likely continue to be linked to Rogers as the summer goes on.
