Chelsea need to use a clever transfer tactic to avoid any risk of another Mo Salah situation

Chelsea gave up the talent of Mohamed Salah to Roma back in 2016, and need to avoid making the exact same mistake a decade later with Alejandro Garnacho.

The Blues didn’t have the foresight to see Salah becoming one of the best players to ever feature in the Premier League, with Liverpool having the pleasure of his talents instead.

In truth, the Egypt international was seen as a bit of a flop when he made his permanent move away from Stamford Bridge a decade ago, in a situation similar to where Alejandro Garnacho finds himself now.

Chelsea must avoid Mo Salah repeat with Alejandro Garnacho

After scoring just one Premier League goal last season, many supporters have already given up on the Argentine, and the same Serie A side who helped rejuvenate Salah’s career are intrigued at doing the same for Garnacho.

Roma are reportedly keen on a loan for Garnacho, which is the exact same situation that occurred with Salah before he was signed permanently.

Chelsea need to look at making sure any potential future permanent move comes with a hefty sell-on clause or buy-back option, if he does turn out to be a quality player in the future.

Blues supporters have certainly not seen the best of Garnacho over the last 12 months, and it has been a while since people saw a player who was at one stage valued at £100m by Manchester United.

Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔

City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.

Although the bar is not high, it has to be said that the Argentine was better last season than fellow summer signing Jamie Gittens, although he saw a large part of the campaign disrupted due to injury.

The one thing Garnacho has working for him going into next season is that he has a summer off after not being chosen for the World Cup, allowing him a full summer’s rest.

It also allows him to link up with Xabi Alonso’s pre-season campaign straight away if he does remain a Chelsea player, giving him an advantage to working under his regime before the likes of Pedro Neto with.
