A lot of the pieces of the jigsaw are already in place for Enzo Maresca to be a major success at Chelsea, but he may still need one or two more key players to complete the team.
Enzo Maresca is off to a pretty solid start as the Chelsea manager, winning 18 of his opening 30 matches across all competitions. His side finds themselves in a top-four battle now in the Premier League after going winless in their last four games, though.
Robert Sanchez, the first-choice Blues goalkeeper, is proving himself to be a decent option in-between the sticks. However, his record of costly individual errors means we think there’s better out there.

Chelsea should go all out for Mads Hermansen
The goalkeeper position at Stamford Bridge is one that’s tormented the club in recent years. If they want to get back to winning silverware again, they simply must solve the key role on the pitch and find their long-term number one. Mark Schwarzer even told Chelsea to replace Sanchez in goal if they want to start winning trophies again.
Chelsea should seriously think about putting a serious attempt together to sign Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen in 2025, especially after recent developments.
According to The Telegraph, Leicester could cash in on their goalkeeper Hermansen after his impressive displays so far in the Premier League.
It is explained that the Foxes intend to return to the model of selling one key player per summer to help comply with profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).
Apparently, Hermansen is the ‘most likely’ Leicester star to be sacrificed and sold for cash this year.
Maresca previously signed Hermansen back in 2023 when he was the Leicester manager, so could he now repeat that trick by bringing him to West London for a reunion?
Maresca wanted Chelsea to sign Hermansen last year when he joined the club. Even though the 24-year-old gloveman is playing for a side threatened by Premier League relegation, he looks like a top-class player in the making.

Mads Hermansen is the real deal and he suits Enzo Maresca
Hermansen is destined to play for a bigger club in his career because he ticks every box as a modern day goalkeeper. Therefore, we’d love to see Chelsea take a chance on the Foxes ace by bidding for him as soon as possible, whether that’s in January or the summer.
The Leicester keeper ranks first in the Premier League this season for the best xG prevented.
| Rank | Player | Club | Post-shot expected goals |
| 1st | Mads Hermansen | Leicester City | +5.8 |
| 2nd | Lukasz Fabianksi | West Ham | +3.8 |
| 3rd | Mark Travers | Bournemouth | +3.3 |
| 4th | Guglielmo Vicario | Tottenham | +2.9 |
| 5th | Robert Sanchez | Chelsea | +2.5 |
On top of his reflexes and general shot-stopping abilities, Hermansen is also extremely confident with the ball at his feet. He proved last season with Leicester under Maresca that he’s tailor-made for his system, unlike current goalkeepers on Chelsea’s books.
All of the successful Blues teams from the 21st century start with an outstanding goalkeeper in the XI, and we think Hermansen could be a great fit for this current set-up.
