Chelsea should really be trying to sign £60m European striker instead of Victor Osimhen

Chelsea’s interest in making a final signing this summer seems to revolve around if they can get a new striker for the first team squad.

The name that has continued to crop up as a main target is Victor Osimhen, with him seemingly desperate to depart from Napoli.

It has been reported that Chelsea have made their first offer to Osimhen of personal terms, however recent updates seem to have suggested they are having to look at other targets late in this window.

There is confidence from Saudi Arabia that Osimhen could be moving there, potentially sending Chelsea back to the drawing board with less than 48 hours of the transfer window to go.

If they are forced to look elsewhere, they should look no further than the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

Chelsea should sign Viktor Gyokeres instead of Victor Osimhen

The Swede was a target of the Blues earlier in the summer, with a price tag of around £60m being discussed as required.

He has started the season in electric form too, picking up from where he left off last campaign. He has six goals and an assist in the first three games of the season.

Gyokeres’ talent and sheer goalscoring ability suggests he will be in line for a big move in the very near future, and a number of top sides will be interested in him.

This could be Chelsea’s last real opportunity to make the signing without facing mass competition for his signature, and having a big chance of missing out on him.

Chelsea considering Ivan Toney

Another name the club have been linked with in recent days is Ivan Toney, with he also having strong interest from Saudi Arabia.

It has been claimed that he would be open to making the move to Stamford Bridge, however with just a couple of days of the window left it looks as if that will be difficult to make happen.
