Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic appears to have caught the attention of one of the Blues’ Premier League rivals.
It is hardly a surprise, with Petrovic having a stunning season at Strasbourg and already possessing some English top-flight experience.
Petrovic recently made history with Strasbourg, helping them to keep five consecutive clean sheets in Ligue 1. It is the first time that the French club have done that since 1984.
With his stock rising, he could be an attractive proposition if Chelsea decide to offer him in any kind of swap deal this summer.
Chelsea should consider offering Djordje Petrovic in a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez
Bournemouth signed one goalkeeper from Chelsea last summer, bringing in Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan, and could do the same in the next transfer window.
According to GiveMeSport, the Cherries have Petrovic on their radar as they prepare for life after Kepa.
While Kepa is doing a good job at Bournemouth, there is no option for them to turn his loan deal into a permanent move.
Chelsea also have interest in several Bournemouth players, including left-back Milos Kerkez. It is thought that Chelsea appreciate £40m-rated Kerkez, who has impressed at the Vitality Stadium this season.
The Blues already have a young squad and the Hungary international is only 21. You cannot help but feel that Enzo Maresca needs to be adding players with a bit more experience to his ranks.
But Chelsea look in desperate need of a new left-back, with Marc Cucurella the only recognised one in the Stamford Bridge dressing room right now.
Considering that, amid Bournemouth’s interest in Petrovic, it could be worth exploring some kind of swap deal. Petrovic has proven at Strasbourg that he could still have something to offer Chelsea, but it is hard to imagine him having a big role under Maresca next season.
Maresca says he is happy with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen — or so he claims — while Mike Penders could also take up a spot in the Italian’s squad.
Chelsea interested in several other Bournemouth players
Kerkez is not the only Bournemouth player Chelsea have been looking at, so they could always offer Petrovic for another member of Andoni Iraola’s squad.
For example, it was recently claimed that Chelsea have made Antoine Semenyo a key target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have Dean Huijsen in their sights as well, so a raid on Bournemouth after this season finishes looks very possible.
