While Chelsea have made a promising start to the season, they do not look ready to compete for the Premier League crown.
This Chelsea team is nowhere near as seasoned as Manchester City and Liverpool’s, and that was clear to see last Sunday when they lost against the latter.
Liverpool managed the game well after their second goal, something Enzo Maresca‘s side struggled to do after Nicolas Jackson’s equaliser. They were also unconvincing at the back once again, with Levi Colwill giving away a clumsy penalty.
If Maresca can address the above, however, then Chelsea could become serious title contenders in the future, and Manchester City’s Ruben Dias, who is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, could help the Italian to do that.

Chelsea need a central defender like Ruben Dias
Chelsea should not be too quick to replace Colwill or Wesley Fofana. Being 21 and 23 respectively, they are the club’s future.
But in the short to medium term, the team could perhaps do with a centre-half like Dias. He is the kind of individual Chelsea needed at Anfield, an experienced and cool defender who can bring game management to the pitch.
“His ability is incredible,” Pep Guardiola was quoted as saying by talkSPORT when discussing Dias a few years ago.
It has been claimed that Chelsea are looking at Dias, who could end up being the perfect mentor to Colwill and Fofana and perhaps the signing who transforms Chelsea into title challengers again.
Man City will be cautious about selling Ruben Dias
Dias remains a key player for City, starting seven games in the Premier League this season. He also captained his side in their last two top-flight fixtures.
City will not be in a hurry to sell the £65m Portugal international to Chelsea, especially after what has happened with Cole Palmer.
They allowed the attacking midfielder to join Chelsea last summer, where he has since gone on to become one of the best players in the country.
All in all, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will be able to sign Dias from City. But if they can, it could be game-changing for the club.
