Chelsea’s latest January transfer plans prove Todd Boehly still has a long way to go to being perfect

It is fair to say that there has been plenty of improvement over the years that Todd Boehly and co have been in charge of Chelsea.

The first transfer window they were in control was utter chaos, with a number of big signings such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang only staying for one season.

Fast forward to the most recent summer, and the signings of Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho look far more intelligent, with a clear plan of having different profiles to play in positions all over the pitch.

Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have hired a number of decision makers over the last few seasons, including ones who oversee transfers. However, one signing from last summer is proving difficult to understand.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is yet to start a Premier League game this season, and at times has been left out of the matchday squad entirely.

The Blues spent a significant fee to bring in the Englishman from Leicester City, after Maresca had enjoyed a very successful season with him in the Championship last season.

Instead, it has been the Conference League where he has been making appearances, and recent reports suggest that he could even be on the move as soon as this month.

Given the fact that he has only been at Stamford Bridge for six months, there has been a clear misjudgment in their transfer policy, and proof they are far from perfect yet.

Who could sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in January?

West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Dewsbury-Hall, with them potentially about to change managers and bring in former Blue Graham Potter.

It has been claimed that Dewsbury-Hall would be open to a move to the London Stadium, with it looking clear like his future is not bright at Stamford Bridge.

Another midfielder linked with a move away is Carney Chukwuemeka, and he could well have a say on the former Leicester man’s move with West Ham also interested in him.
