Chelsea have made a number of changes to the expected shirt numbers for the new season.

New signings Pedro Neto and Joao Felix now know what will be on their backs for the new season, with the former’s being different to what he wore on his debut against Manchester City.

The winger has been handed the number seven shirt, previously occupied by Raheem Sterling.

The move is a signifier to exactly where the club stand on the England international, after Enzo Maresca made the move to drop him from the matchday squad completely.

Sterling has now asked to leave the Blues this summer, with it now being a race against time to see if they can find a solution in this transfer window.

Chelsea could give number nine shirt to Victor Osimhen

With the shift around in numbers, the number nine shirt has remained vacant at this stage.

Normally given to a striker, there remains the possibility that the addition of Victor Osimhen could see him given the honour for next season.

Chelsea have been linked with the Napoli striker for well over a year now, with him previously seen as Todd Boehly’s number one target.

Napoli advancing on Romelu Lukaku deal

Their interest has reignited in recent weeks, especially with the chance being there that Romelu Lukaku moves the other way.

Talks are scheduled today between the two clubs to hopefully bring an end to the Belgian’s saga at Stamford Bridge, which is no doubt tiring supporters at this stage.

Chelsea have not had the best luck as of yet with strikers, however Nicolas Jackson should feel as if he had a very promising first season in English football.

His place in the side is also under threat from youngster Marc Guiu, who enjoyed a really strong pre-season campaign.

With Osimhen previously being stated as available for a fee of £84m, the Blues will be looking to get that down significantly if they are to complete the signing this summer.
