Chelsea’s striker nightmare has obvious solution as 6ft 5in Strasbourg star continues brilliant form

Chelsea are currently lining up for games in both the Premier League and the Conference League without a recognised striker after injuries have plagued their squad.

Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu hobbled off from incidents which happened in the same game, which just so happened to be on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

This meant that the Blues were not able to complete any deals in January to sort this. They had been seen as the favourites to sign Liam Delap, and remain interested in a potential summer move.

Enzo Maresca has temporarily solved the problem by using Pedro Neto up front, however it is unlikely this is going to be the long term plan.

Chelsea can solve striker problem by signing Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha

It is believed that Chelsea are prepared to ‘go big’ in the summer to address the issues in their side, and this includes the striker position.

A number of the best options in Europe have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. This includes Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, who are all wanted by a number of big clubs.

However, the answer for the Blues may be closer to home than they realise, coming at fellow BlueCo owned club, Strasbourg.

The Ligue 1 side are currently operating with Emanuel Emegha up front, and he is enjoying a glorious run of form in front of goal.

The 22-year-old has eight goals and an assist in his last nine games for Liam Rosenior’s side, and has been a big part of them pushing towards the European places.

Chelsea are going to need to spend big money if they want to add the top players they also require at the back and between the sticks, and Emegha could provide serious competition for Jackson without breaking the bank.

Who is Emanuel Emegha?

Standing at a giant 6ft 5in tall, Emegha has a physical profile in the striker position which Chelsea are desperately lacking right now.

As seen, he is also very good at winning the ball back in the final third, something which is key to Enzo Maresca’s style of play.

Strasbourg are currently reaping the rewards of a number of players belonging to Chelsea, with Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic starring for the French side.

The business is likely to see some of their most promising players head to Stamford Bridge though, and Emegha would certainly fit this category if the Blues decided to make a move.
