With less than 24 hours ago, Chelsea are approaching crunch time if they are to make any additions to their starting side.

So far, only Trevoh Chalobah has joined the first team after being recalled from his loan spell away at Crystal Palace, with it originally being believed that exits were needed for more faces to come through the door.

However, things are moving in the right direction as far as that is concerned. Carney Chukwuemeka is set for a medical today with Borussia Dortmund.

Ben Chilwell also looks on the move, with a loan at Crystal Palace in the offing, and this has opened up some spots in the first team squad for potential signings.

Chelsea have to sign Alejandro Garnacho on deadline day

Of all the names they have been linked with, the one that has perhaps been strongest in the last 10 days or so is Alejandro Garnacho.

The Manchester United winger has remained a key player under Ruben Amorim, however Jim Ratcliffe and co in charge of the club are aware they need to sell in order to strengthen.

Selling a homegrown player would certainly assist them with the Financial Fair Play guidelines, and United have also asked about the possibility of signing a player from Chelsea in exchange.

Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix have both been mentioned as targets for the Red Devils, however even if they don’t move on a big-name addition is needed at Stamford Bridge.

Any signings should get the green light from Enzo Maresca, and a deal for the Argentinian is no different.

Enzo Maresca wants Alejandro Garnacho at Chelsea

However, it has already been claimed that Maresca wants Garnacho to join Chelsea, who could be short of options on the left of attack.

Jadon Sancho has played the majority of minutes on this side, although Mykhailo Mudryk is still unavailable for selection.

Bringing in a new winger could well stunt the growth of Tyrique George, who has been promoted to the first team squad this season.

Despite this, Chelsea need results now in order to earn their place in the Champions League next season, and Garnacho is in a better place to contribute to their efforts now.
