Chelsea have made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after beating Leicester City and Southampton.

Their latest victory came against the Foxes at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Enzo Maresca‘s men winning 1-0.

Those three points have taken Chelsea back into the top four, but overall, 2025 has been a disappointing year so far for the team.

The Blues have dropped a lot of point since January and were also knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth round. Several players have not been at their best either, including the likes of Jadon Sancho and Cole Palmer. Palmer missed a penalty over the weekend as his goal drought continues.

Jadon Sancho impressed against Leicester

Palmer had a game to forget on Sunday, but things went much better for his teammate Sancho. The winger needed a big performance and delivered one.

Like Palmer, his form has not been great lately either. Last month, Arsenal legend Martin Keown was critical of Sancho, stating that the 24-year-old needed to start scoring and assisting more.

Sancho did neither against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, but he can still be pleased with his performance. It was probably his best since Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at the start of 2025, where he provided Palmer with an excellent assist.

It was Sancho who won the penalty that Palmer failed to convert past Mads Hermansen, while he also managed to register three key passes, according to Sofascore.

Sancho’s passing accuracy was not bad either, with the England international recording an 88% pass success rate after completing 37 out of the 42 passes he attempted.

Sancho is thought to be earning £100,000 a week at Chelsea and is expected to cost the Blues £25m when his permanent transfer goes through this summer. With more performances like the one supporters saw over the weekend, Sancho could still end up going down as a bargain for Chelsea.

Jadon Sancho disappointed with his form

While Sancho did have a positive impact in Chelsea’s latest win, his failure to score in it means that he has now failed to net in his last 16 games.

Understandably, the former Borussia Dortmund star is not happy with his form right now and has acknowledged that he can improve.

When Sancho spoke after the Leicester match, he said: “I know I can do better, especially in front of goal, it’s annoying not to score, but I know it’ll come.”

Sancho is not a youngster any more, but 24 hardly makes him a pensioner either, so time is still on his side.
