Chelsea fans would have learnt a lot from their side’s recent defeats to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
The Blues lost 2-1 against United in the Premier League after being beaten 3-1 by Bayern in the Champions League.
Chelsea supporters slammed Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo for their defending at the Allianz Arena, and they did not look any better at Old Trafford.
Wesley Fofana, on the other hand, can be satisfied with his display against Ruben Amorim’s men.

Wesley Fofana is becoming even more valuable to Enzo Maresca
When you watch Fofana play, he is just not beaten as easily as Chalobah and Adarabioyo are, and that was the case on Saturday.
The Frenchman is a very aggressive central defender who wins his duels, and even when he does not, he has the pace to recover.
It is believed that Fofana is one of Enzo Maresca’s favourite players at Chelsea, and it became easy to see why last week.
Fofana is a better centre-half than both Chalobah and Adarabioyo. He has more quality than the pair.
His issue is obviously staying fit. If the 24-year-old can find a way to resolve that problem, it changes things massively for Chelsea.
Of course, that is a big if, which is one reason why the higher-ups at Stamford Bridge have no choice but to make one decision in 2026 that would surely delight Maresca.

Chelsea need to sign new centre-back next year
There is no denying Fofana’s ability. It is why Chelsea were willing to pay £70m to sign the France international from Leicester City in 2022.
But the reality is that Fofana cannot stay fit, and the drop-off in certain games when both the former Leicester man and Levi Colwill are missing is too big.
Simply put, if Chelsea want to start challenging for the Premier League title again, they probably need three high-calibre centre-backs.
Colwill and a fit Fofana would be the first two. Perhaps someone like Marc Guehi could be the third.
The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Chelsea will approach Guehi when his contract expires next summer.
