Yesterday was far from the best outing this season for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
Despite completing 90 minutes, there was not really a notable chance or strong bit of build-up play for the striker who currently sits on six Premier League goals this season.
Enzo Maresca decided not to turn to Christopher Nkunku off the bench to replace him at any stage, clearly still confident that the Senegal international could make the game-winning impact.

While he offered very little going forwards for the Blues, perhaps the biggest issue with Jackson’s performance is what came in the final moments of the game.
After a horror tackle from Lisandro Martinez on Cole Palmer, a number of players from both teams scuffled in the middle of the pitch.
Nicolas Jackson has to work on his discipline at Chelsea
One of those was Jackson, who picked up his fourth Premier League yellow card of the season for his part in the debacle.
This puts the striker one game away from a suspension, which will see him miss what could be a crucial game.
For all of Jackson’s improvements on the pitch, there is still an ongoing sense that the foolishness that could cost him crucial minutes in the side.
Christopher Nkunku could take Nicolas Jackson’s spot
While it would be a blow for the Blues, it could end up being a real blow for the player too.
Competition for minutes is hot up front at the minute, with Nkunku seeming to find the net every time he is handed a start in the cup competitions.
The Frenchman cannot be far away from establishing himself as a starter more regularly at Stamford Bridge, and a good performance in a game Jackson is suspended for could be the opportunity he needs.
Jackson has shown a great deal of improvement under Maresca this season, however he must get his discipline on track the same way.
