Pedro Neto’s new shirt number surely proves it’s the end for £30m player at Chelsea

Yesterday saw one of Chelsea’s newest first team members handed his new shirt number for the upcoming season.

Summer signing Pedro Neto previously wore the number 7 shirt at Wolves, and had many wondering if he would be given that shirt again at Stamford Bridge.

This would have displaced Raheem Sterling from his current number, something that likely would not have gone down well even if there is an appetite to sell him this summer.

Pedro Neto takes Armando Broja’s number at Chelsea

However, he was instead handed the number 19 shirt, which has actually seen a different Chelsea player lose what was expected to be his number for the upcoming season.

Armando Broja has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, however finding a suitor to take him on a permanent basis has proven a little difficult.

Yesterday saw him linked with a move to Bournemouth, who are looking for a replacement after selling Dominic Solanke to Tottenham.

Broja hardly used in pre-season

The striker was hardly used during the pre-season tour of Enzo Maresca, even though Nicolas Jackson was hardly able to feature due to injury.

Instead, the boss looked down the path of Marc Guiu, who had just moved from Barcelona.

Chelsea fans are hoping Guiu doesn’t leave on loan, with them seeing enough from him to suggest he should remain in the first team picture going into the new campaign.

It has been claimed that the Blues are far from done when it comes to striker business in the transfer window.

Victor Osimhen has been a target of the club for well over a year now, however talk has now stepped up over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

This could well come in exchange for another outcast in Romelu Lukaku, who Napoli manager Antonio Conte is absolutely desperate to bring in this summer.
