It is thought that there are seven untouchable players in Chelsea’s squad ahead of Xabi Alonso’s arrival next month.
The seven untouchables at Chelsea are said to be Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro, Estevao Willian, Reece James, Josh Acheampong and Levi Colwill.
Quality footballers, but who is the most and least important out of the seven? The Chelsea Chronicle has ranked each of them!
Xabi Alonso has his SEVEN Chelsea ‘untouchables’ 👀
Do you agree with them?
7. Josh Acheampong
Acheampong has a lot of potential and most of the qualities you want in a defender. However, he only made eight starts in the Premier League last season.
Chelsea may deem Acheampong untouchable, but he is not an important starting XI player just yet.
6. Estevao Willian
Estevao is another one with huge potential and made more of an impact than Acheampong last term. He scored a couple of big goals against Barcelona and Liverpool but only netted twice in total in the English top flight.
With all of Chelsea’s recent managers being big fans of Pedro Neto, Estevao has not made himself essential to the Blues’ team.
5. Levi Colwill
Colwill’s profile is quite rare. He is a left-sided central defender who can play out of defence.
Colwill is also one of the leaders at Chelsea despite still being just 23 years of age. They need him in their side and that became apparent after his return from injury.
All of a sudden, the Blues were starting to look solid against teams such as Manchester City and Liverpool with him in the starting XI.

4. Moises Caicedo
Caicedo’s form tailed off in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign and Chelsea had to get on with things. Had it not been for that, he would probably be a bit higher on the list.
Few players in the division are better tacklers than the Ecuadorian, who is Chelsea’s best midfielder.
3. Joao Pedro
Could easily be one or two after scoring 20 goals last season. Pedro is one of few attackers in this Chelsea squad you can actually trust against the opposition goalkeeper.
2. Reece James
James is captain, the team’s best defender and a huge asset going forward despite being a full-back.
The England international has also proven to be an excellent midfielder, which has really helped Chelsea amid Romeo Lavia’s injury problems. They are not the same team without him.
How would you rank Chelsea’s so-called “untouchables” ahead of the new season?
Here is The Chelsea Chronicle's list!
1. Cole Palmer
Did he have the best season? No. But Palmer is a goalscorer and creator in this Chelsea side.
If Chelsea were to lose his output for whatever reason, they would finish in the bottom half of the table. There is no doubt about that. Untouchable and irreplaceable.
