Like always, it’s been another rollercoaster calendar year for Chelsea supporters, which ended very differently from how it started.
Chelsea started 2024 being coached by Mauricio Pochettino. At the turn of the year, the Blues were sitting mid-table in the Premier League and receiving plenty of criticism in the media for the state of things at Stamford Bridge.
However, if you fast-forward to now, there’s a much more positive feeling about how Chelsea are shaping up right now. In particular, Enzo Maresca is a very popular man since he took charge in the summer as the club’s head coach.
There’s been some truly entertaining matches over the course of the last 12 months involving the Blues.
Here is a look the top five most thrilling Chelsea matches from 2024:
Chelsea 4-3 Manchester United (4 April)
Chelsea’s stunning 4-3 win at home to Manchester United last season will live long in the memory.
Back in April, the Blues got the better of rivals Man United in a seven-goal thriller in the Premier League.
It’s one of the numerous games last year where Cole Palmer stole the headlines. In this particular game, he scored twice deep in stoppage time to overturn a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 victory.
Man United fans taunted Chelsea’s Palmer with chants of ‘City reject’, which refers to his upbringing at Manchester City. Well, he responded in perfect fashion at the time with a hat-trick to earn three points.
The English star was the icing on the cake in a Premier League classic that had a bit of everything in it during over 100 minutes of football.

Chelsea 6-0 Everton (15 April)
The next inclusion is another Chelsea game from last season where Palmer ran riot.
The Blues thrashed Everton by a 6-0 scoreline to give supporters a glimpse into what they’d be seeing a lot more of in the 2024/25 campaign.
Palmer scored four of Chelsea’s six goals in the Premier League thrashing. Also, Nicolas Jackson got on the scoresheet, plus academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist netted his first senior goal for the Blues with a 90th minute strike that sent the home supporters crazy.
Jamie Carragher loved Gilchrist’s Chelsea goal against Everton and the subsequent celebrations.
Wolverhampton Wanders 2-6 Chelsea (25 August)
Chelsea’s first away day of the 2024/25 season under Maresca is one that travelling supporters at Molineux Stadium won’t forget in a hurry.
Wolves and Chelsea were locked at 2-2 after an entertaining opening 45 minutes of Premier League football. Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer scored for the visitors, while Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Stand Larsen netted for the hosts.
However, the Blues ripped Wolves apart by scoring four more times in a 6-2 victory. Noni Madueke hit a second-half hat-trick, plus Joao Felix scored.
Alan Shearer loved Madueke’s performance versus Wolves by describing it as the best performance of his Chelsea career.
Chelsea 3-0 Aston Villa (1 December)
Chelsea put in such a dominant team performance to dismantle Aston Villa 3-0 in a league meeting at the start of December.
Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer were all on the scoresheet in this one-sided contest.
It’s the result that made everyone think the Blues are a shoe-in for a top-four finish in this season’s Premier League.
Tottenham 3-4 Chelsea (8 December)
Chelsea’s dramatic comeback win against Tottenham last month might be the club’s most enjoyable result of 2024.
Not only was it a game that put the Blues second in the Premier League table at the time, but it was an away win against a big rival in sensational style.
