Chelsea’s academy continues to be a superb production line for future stars, so let’s hope that plenty more youngsters make their senior breakthroughs in 2025.

The Chelsea academy has helped develop so many first-team stars across the years. For instance, the current Blues squad includes academy graduates such as Levi Colwill and Reece James.

It’s vitally important that Enzo Maresca keeps the door open for the club’s young prospects to integrate into the senior group. In fairness, the Chelsea manager has done that in the first half of the season by using different youngsters in various cup competitions.

Maresca has a detailed knowledge of Chelsea’s academy, so let’s hope that some emerging talents make 2025 their big breakthrough year.

Here is a look at three Blues youngsters that every supporter should be keeping a close eye on next year:

Josh Acheampong

Josh Acheampong has had a turbulent few months waiting on the sidelines amid a contract stand-off, but thankfully there’s been positive news regarding that. He signed a new long-term deal this month before earning a promotion into the first-team group.

In terms of his ability, Acheampong looks like he could be the next big success story from Cobham.

Maresca immediately liked Chelsea’s Acheampong after becoming head coach in the summer, so it’s been frustrating that he’s been unavailable to play. Now, he’s back involved in the senior group and should be primed for a major breakthrough.

The 18-year-old defender, who can play as a right-back or centre-back, can provide perfect cover for the senior set-up.

With Reece James’ poor injury record persisting, Acheampong may be the natural understudy to Malo Gusto.

Tyrique George

Chelsea prospect Tyrique George, 18, is a player that the fanbase will be aware of because he’s been slowly integrated into the first team. If things go his way in the next 12 months, perhaps 2025 is the year he becomes a more recognised figure.

The skilful winger hadn’t played a minute of first-team football before this season, but he’s already made several senior appearances under Maresca.

Like Acheampong, he’s now been promoted to a first-team player and received a locker in the main dressing room.

According to Jadon Sancho, Chelsea youngster George has the world at his feet. He certainly doesn’t look out of place when he features in the main side, especially because of his rapid acceleration and confident dribbling.

His biggest problem will be dealing with the huge competition in the wide areas. He’s got to try stand out when he’s competing against the likes of Sancho, Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

George is definitely a big talent knocking on the door for more minutes going into the New Year, though.

Kiano Dyer

Finally, Chelsea’s Kiano Dyer is a real wildcard to follow in 2025.

The 18-year-old central midfielder has been one of the very best performers so far this season in the Blues Under-21s side.

Chelsea are well covered in the centre of the park with top-class midfielders Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez. However, perhaps there’s room for a young talent such as Dyer to emerge as a genuine back-up option.

Dyer ticks so many boxes as a modern midfielder who’s press resistant and technically superb. On paper, he’s someone that could make the step up and suit Maresca’s side if he gets the opportunity.
