Thomas Tuchel becoming England manager is great news for Chelsea’s forgotten international

Thomas Tuchel has now been officially announced as the new England manager, returning to the country after his time at Chelsea.

The German reportedly never wanted to leave the club when he was sacked, although it seems that Todd Boehly was far more interested in building a side that was led by Graham Potter.

Already talk has begun over who will feature in Tuchel’s England side when he takes over, with Chelsea fans wondering which of their players will start.

While their times at the club never overlapped, many will be hoping for the former boss to build the side around Cole Palmer, which no England manager has done as of yet.

When looking back at when Tuchel was at Stamford Bridge though, one of his favoured players was Raheem Sterling, who is currently out on loan at Arsenal.

Thomas Tuchel may bring Raheem Sterling into England fold again

It has been over a year now since the winger was in the England squad. It is fair to say his performances have not really warranted it.

However, Tuchel was over the moon with the addition of Sterling when he was in charge, and could well look to him if he starts to perform well for the Gunners.

Sterling competing with Jadon Sancho for England place

There is plenty of competition for places in those positions in the England setup, and one of those hoping to break back into the side actually seems to have replaced Sterling in West London.

Jadon Sancho has also not been in the first team setup for a while now, and is performing back at a level he has previously reached in his career at Borussia Dortmund.

He will be looking to join fellow winger Noni Madueke in the setup, with the right-sided player proving himself to have improved greatly under club manager Enzo Maresca so far this season.
