English Chelsea supporters are seemingly about to get a real positive piece of news regarding the future of their national team.

It is expected that Thomas Tuchel will be announced today as the new England manager, returning to management after his spell with Bayern Munich came to an end.

Chelsea supporters still think extremely highly of the German, who brought the Champions League back to Stamford Bridge in 2021.

Tuchel didn’t survive long when the ownership changed at the club, with Todd Boehly seemingly set on bringing Graham Potter in as the new boss.

Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to leave Chelsea

It always seemed as if there was still an affection from the former manager to the Blues, and Sky journalist Kerry Hau has claimed that this was certainly the case.

He told Sky: “Thomas Tuchel loves England. He didn’t want to leave Chelsea, he felt very comfortable in England. Congratulations to England, because he is a great manager.”

It remains to be seen how the current and former Chelsea players’ fortunes are now changed by the introduction of Tuchel to the England setup.

Tuchel could build England around Cole Palmer

He was never in charge at a time where Cole Palmer was at the club, however the whole of the nation has been calling for the Three Lions to build their side around him at the moment.

There may be an appetite to bring back in some faces he has plenty of experience with in the past, with him notably playing Reece James as part of a back three at times at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues’ captain has just returned to training for the first time under current boss Enzo Maresca, although Chelsea fans will be hoping to see him stay fit for a prolonged period of time before talk of a return to the international setup comes around.

Left-back is a position where England are not strong right now, potentially opening up a chance for Ben Chilwell to stake his claim.
