Despite the fact the new manager will not be in charge this week, there will be a lot of focus on the performances of a number of England players in their upcoming Nations League games this week.

Thomas Tuchel is set to take over the role in the new year, and will be keen to get his side to perfection before they take part in the 2026 World Cup.

A number of Chelsea players will be hoping that they can make themselves regulars under the German, however only Noni Madueke will have the chance to stake his claim in the upcoming fixtures.

This is after both Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill pulled out from representing their countries this week. Palmer was seen limping away from the Arsenal game at the weekend.

Thomas Tuchel can revive Jadon Sancho’s career

There are a number of individuals who were not called up to this squad who will still believe that there is unfinished business at the international level.

One of those is Jadon Sancho, who is over a year without being part of the England squad, although has seen his performances turn around since making the move to Chelsea.

The winger has had to battle injury and illness since joining the club on loan over the summer, although should be fighting for a place in the side again when club football returns.

Tuchel wanted to sign Sancho for Chelsea

Tuchel is notably a fan of Sancho, and according to OneFootball was keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge when he was in charge of Chelsea.

The incoming England manager will have the chance to try out a number of players he has been a fan of, and Sancho will face competition for a place on the wing with the likes of Anthony Gordon in the squad.

Gordon admitted he was desperate to join Chelsea when Tuchel was in charge, and if that move went ahead there would likely have been no chance for Sancho to make the move to Stamford Bridge at all.
