Three players who should be in their final season at Chelsea, including £35m disappointment

In the new year, Chelsea should part ways with at least three players in their first-team squad.

Over the summer, the Blues moved on quite a few names, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix all leaving the club.

Felix is shining for Portugal and Al-Nassr right now, but the forward had no future in west London and selling him was probably the best decision.

The Chelsea Chronicle has now looked at three more individuals who should be in their final season at Stamford Bridge.

Robert Sanchez

Robert Sanchez finished last season strongly and has not done too much wrong in the new campaign so far. He has already kept two clean sheets in Chelsea’s first three Premier League games.

However, after all of his mistakes in a blue shirt, it just feels as though Chelsea can easily upgrade on him.

It is quite disappointing that they did not go after Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has ended up at their rivals Manchester City instead. He would have definitely been an upgrade on Sanchez.

Benoit Badiashile

Chelsea do not necessarily need an upgrade on Benoit Badiashile. The 24-year-old has never been a regular starter at Stamford Bridge, finding himself behind the likes of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in the centre-back pecking order.

Nevertheless, it is the right time to let him go. Badiashile keeps on picking up injuries, and even when the Frenchman does play, he does not look convincing.

All in all, Chelsea have not got much from their £35m investment, though his fitness issues are partly to blame.

Tyrique George

Tyrique George was close to securing a move away from Chelsea on deadline day, but a transfer to Fulham ended up collapsing.

The winger still needs to leave following the arrivals of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho at Chelsea.

George is going to find it hard to nail down a spot in Enzo Maresca‘s team so should continue searching for a new club in 2026. Alongside Badiashile and Sanchez, it is time for the 19-year-old to depart.
