Chelsea have made the decision to part ways with Enzo Maresca after a run of three Premier League games in a row without a win to end 2025.
In truth, the call is likely more down to the breakdown in the relationship between Maresca and the owners, with his comments in press conferences not going down too well.
Liam Rosenior is an early favourite to take the job at Stamford Bridge, with Cesc Fabregas already ruled out of the managerial role at this stage.
Enzo Maresca has officially left Chelsea! Who would you like to see replace the Italian? 🤔
It will be interesting to see how the change in the hotseat impacts the playing squad, with some having a far bigger impact under Maresca than others.

The Chelsea Chronicle have ranked the biggest winners and losers from the club’s decision to part ways with the Italian.
Winners and losers from Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea sacking
Winners
Filip Jorgensen
Only when Robert Sanchez has been suspended is when Filip Jorgensen has made a Premier League appearance for Chelsea this season.
This has led to the goalkeeper wanting to leave the club, but a new manager could give him a fresh chance to save his career at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are set to receive January offers for Jorgensen, but the change at the top could lead to a fresh chance for the Dane to make his mark at last.
Estevao Willian
One of Chelsea’s most talented players this season has not been given the chances he should have done to make an impact this season.
Estevao Willian gets fans out of their seats whenever he plays, but Maresca was doing his best to protect the youngster in the early stages of his career.
A new manager will likely look to get more out of the Brazil international, potentially seeing him become a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.
Josh Acheampong
Similarly to Estevao, Josh Acheampong has been protected by Maresca despite looking as if he should be starting for the Blues this season.
In the absence of Levi Colwill, Chelsea’s centre-backs have struggled, but appearances for the England U21 star have been few and far between.
There are plenty of qualities in Acheampong that a new manager will greatly appreciate, and could see him become a far more regular fixture.

Losers
Pedro Neto
Pedro Neto has had a decent season for Chelsea, but the jury remains out over whether he is good enough to be given the opportunities he has so far.
The Portugal international has been one of the most used players this season for the Blues, keeping Estevao on the bench in the process.
If the talented youngster is given more chances on the right, it could coincide with a drop in minutes for Neto.
Liam Delap
Liam Delap was brought to the club as one of the recommendations made by Maresca last summer.
However, things have not worked out how the striker would have liked. He is yet to score a Premier League goal since joining.
If things don’t turn around quickly for the former Ipswich Town man, expect a new manager to look another direction with their number nine, likely starting Joao Pedro in that role.
