Chelsea’s new ownership team have not been cautious to put their finger on the trigger when it comes to player sales at the club.
The squad is unrecognisable over a period of just two years or so, however this doesn’t seem to have been exactly what Todd Boehly had in mind.
His side of the well-documented rift between the ownership group have accused Behdad Eghbali of being obsessed by player trading to an extent he disagrees with.
However, when they first came in the door it was the American whose name was front and centre of near enough every transfer situation at the club, many not ending up so popular.
A report from 2023 stated that Boehly was personally happy for the club to sell five of their top academy products; Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Levi Colwill.

Boehly did well not to cash in on Levi Colwill
Obviously, only Colwill remains from that list at the club now, with it hard to argue that the American didn’t get this decision absolutely spot on.
You can easily argue that Chelsea have not got weaker in any positions since they decided to sell the other players, however Colwill has now established himself as arguably the most promising central defender in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca thinks Colwill is ‘fantastic’
He was described as ‘fantastic’ by current manager Enzo Maresca, and has started every game so far in the league this season.
The centre-back has also been named in the U21 Team of the Season so far too, proving a crucial player now he is featuring in his correct position.
Mauricio Pochettino had a habit of starting the England international at left-back during his season at the club, however now they are getting the best out of Marc Cucurella that is not seen as a required option by the Blues anymore.
