Enzo Maresca will be delighted with the efforts of his Chelsea players as his side returned to Premier League winning ways against Leicester City.

A number of key players were facing fitness issues after returning from international duty at various different times.

Enzo Fernandez completed two 90 minutes for Argentina, however was back in the side and putting in a Man of the Match performance at the King Power Stadium.

A number of top players were also doubts after pulling out of international duty at various stages due to multiple knocks.

One of those players was Levi Colwill, who Maresca also admitted after the game was playing through illness on Saturday.

Levi Colwill shows captaincy credentials playing ill for Chelsea

Despite any limitations that may have come through illness, the England international was imperious again at the back in a new-look defensive pairing with Benoit Badiashile.

Wesley Fofana shifted to right-back, and Badiashile impressed greatly in what was his first Premier League start of the season.

The brilliance of Colwill though was just a continuation of how he has played all season, now he is finally in his recognised position on a regular basis.

The fact he knew how much he was needed by the side to play through injury is the type of thing Chelsea fans could expect from someone like John Terry in the past,

Desire to play no matter the circumstances is something many supporters will have felt they have been lacking in recent years.

Could Colwill replace Reece James as captain?

Chelsea captain Reece James is facing a nervous wait to see how long he is set to be out for after picking up another hamstring injury.

It remains to be seen if the Blues look to another member of their squad to take the role of skipper on a permanent basis.

Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Colwill have all donned the armband in James’ absence at times, and if the tough decision is needed to be made there is no better candidate than the Cobham graduate at the back.
