Why it’s already make or break for Kendry Paez at Chelsea as Premier League club eye loan

Chelsea’s transfer policy of signing young players with potential has been really hit-and-miss, with Kendry Paez falling into the second category.

In Paez’s defence, he is not the only one, while the attacking midfielder has not even played a game for Chelsea yet.

With that being said, there was so much excitement surrounding his arrival and a lot was expected of him during his loan spells at Strasbourg and River Plate.

Unfortunately, though, his career has not really taken off yet despite showing so much promise back home in Ecuador.

Potential Ipswich loan will show if Kendry Paez can succeed in the Premier League

Paez’s next destination could be Ipswich Town. According to Bolavip Ecuador, the newly-promoted Premier League side are one club who are interested in signing him on loan this summer.

His loan spells at Strasbourg and River Plate did not go to plan. At the former, he scored just one goal in 21 appearances before having his loan cut short.

Paez’s record at River Plate was hardly better. There, he also scored just once after 14 outings.

How would you rank Chelsea’s so-called “untouchables” ahead of the new season?

Here is The Chelsea Chronicle's list!

7. Josh Acheampong

6. Estevao Willian

5. Levi Colwill

4. Moises Caicedo

3. Joao Pedro

2. Reece James

It is believed that the 19-year-old has also had his loan there cut short, although there has been no official confirmation yet.

Paez would have been desperate to make an impression at those two clubs, but he can put that behind him. What is really going to matter is how he gets on at Ipswich should that move happen.

Chelsea will get to see first-hand if the Ecuadorian is ready to play in the Premier League at this stage of his career. If not, after what has happened elsewhere, it would not be a surprise if they ended things here with Paez.

Paez’s struggles at River Plate and Strasbourg do not mean he should be written off yet, especially considering how young he is.

But you would have to fear for his future at Stamford Bridge if there are any more failed loan spells.
