‘Excellent’, ‘Did the hard work’: Some fans loved today’s display from their 20-year-old Chelsea loanee

Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour was in Premier League action today – and some Norwich City fans on Twitter loved his individual performance for them.

Gilmour, 20, is a special Chelsea talent that’s spending the season on loan at Carrow Road with league rivals Norwich.

The Scotland international was starved of minutes earlier in the season, but has started back-to-back games since the arrival of new manager Dean Smith.

He completed 90 minutes on Saturday during Norwich’s 0-0 draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Norwich fans applaud Gilmour

A selection of Canaries supporters on social media believe that their Chelsea loanee was one of the standout individuals at the weekend against Wolves.

The central midfielder ended up with a 91 per cent passing accuracy, which highlights a vital part of his game that he prides himself on.

In addition, he made three key passes and had more touches of the ball than anyone else in his team.

His form for his country shows his ability, so it’s great to see Norwich starting to really tap into that. It looks like Smith has taken a liking to him, too.

Chelsea can relax

It seemed pretty dull a few weeks ago when Gilmour couldn’t get a sniff at Norwich, but things have completely changed now.

There were discussions within the Chelsea fanbase suggesting the youngster’s loan deal would need to be ended early in the New Year.

However, the midfielder is starting to play regularly in the Premier League again.

He’s one loan player that looks like he can carve out a senior career at Stamford Bridge, so it’s vital he’s learning on the job with Norwich.
