'Going to the top': Some Chelsea fans praise their 17-year-old's display yesterday in FA Youth Cup
Chelsea’s youngsters battled to victory yesterday in the FA Youth Cup by eventually beating Watford in extra-time – and some Blues fans on Twitter praised the display from their rising talent Lewis Hall.
Chelsea’s Under-18s side reached the FA Youth Cup fifth round last night by winning 3-2 away to Watford.
Harvey Vale (two) and Malik Mothersille were the Blues goalscorers in Thursday night’s thrilling contest. Vale eventually fired in the winner during extra time with a left-footed finish from close range.
Chelsea fans wax lyrical about Hall
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media applauded Hall after his performance at youth level this week.
The 17-year-old midfielder partnered Charlie Webster in the centre of the park, with the duo two exciting emerging talents to keep an eye on.
He played 116 minutes before being withdrawn, which was quite the achievement given the intensity of his schedule recently.
Hall made his first-team debut in the recent FA Cup victory over Chesterfield, winning man of the match in the process.
The left-footer, who’s received praise from Callum Hudson-Odoi, didn’t look out of place when stepping into the senior fold with Thomas Tuchel’s group.
He performed yesterday in his preferred role as a central midfielder, but showed his versatility and maturity at such a young age to make his senior Chelsea debut out of position. It was a totally dominant display from him as a left-sided centre-back against Chesterfield.
